    -Chapter Seven/Eight-
    1) An example of dramatic irony when Bruno encounters Pavel is that both the reader and Pavel himself knows he is a was once a Jewish doctor, before the Germans took everything away from him and sent him to Auschwitz.

    2) The story occurs in a polish city called Oswiecim, which was annexed and renamed Auschwitz sometime between 1940-1945.

    Well The big fence with the telegraph poles let us know it's a extermination camps and the gas trucks let us know they used those to kill the jews and Bruno.

  8. 1. When Bruno gets on the swing that Pavel made he falls off and gets hurt. Pavel one of the jewsih servants has to clean Bruno's wound. This is ironic becasue Pavel was a doctor before he was a prisoner.

  16. 1. Dramatic irony can be found when Pavel tells Brumo that he use to be a doctor before being just a man that peels potatoes in their kitchen. Its the fact that we know that all jews were fired and kicked out, but Bruno was never told any thing based on the treatment of the jews.
    2. THe setting of this story is in the 1940's, i can see this because of the tire swing Bruno makes.

    3. I learned that Eva and Adolf Hitler's relationship was kept extremely private. Eva was never seen with Hitler so nobody knew about her. People were aware of their relationship after Hitler and Eva's death.

  26. 1. I notice an example of dramatic irony, it was when Pavel called Bruno a name, I understand this since it is in this time period and Bruno is probably being called a bad word or a racial slur.

Well at first I thought it was pretty cool that Bruno had been 'exploring' for that long, but when he found Shmuel I felt sad because i knew that the reason Shmuel looked so sad was because he was at a concentration camp and will probably later die from malnutrition, poor health care, or be killed.
    2. I was surprised about how Shmuel and Bruno became friends so fast, I was surprised because they just met each other and their already talking like they're friends.

    1. Ignorant means you lack something. For example, when Bruno landed on the ground and hurt himself, Pavel came and helped him out. So when Pavel was finished with Bruno, Bruno thought that his mom still had to take him to the doctor. Then Pavel said that won't be neccessary and then Bruno said how do you know? Then Pavel said becaise I'm a doctor. At first Bruno didn't understand. Thats how Brno was being ignorant.
    2. There are 2 main settings and one of them is, the house back in Berlin. The other main setting is, the new house in Out-With. What makes the settings seem so life-like is the different details. For example, in any situation Bruno's family was in, the narrator made the situation seem so life like because he used details.
    3. I haven't learned anything about Eva and Hitler yet, and I don't have Ms. Wiley as a teacher.
    4. A simile is a comparison using the words like or as. For example, in chapter six Bruno and Maria heard a door slammed and they both jumped because it scared them.
